POSITION SUMMARY
As a member of the Mechanical Engineering team, the Mechanical
Designer (m/f) will be responsible for designing thin wall plastic
injection molded parts, die castings, sheet metal parts, keypads and
other electro mechanical component parts for RIM handheld products and
assemblies. The incumbent will be involved with Design work which is
performed using Pro/Engineer 3D CAD software, and will interface with
tooling, PCB layout, RF, base band, acoustic, manufacturing, industrial
design and other internal RIM groups in order to produce cost
effective, high quality and highly functional products. The incumbent's
other duties include support of product definition, concept generation,
support of product ramp creating part drawings, investigating new
packaging technologies, interfacing with suppliers, qualifying parts
and assemblies along with tolerance analysis and part and drawing
release.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering along with 3 to 5 years of experience
Self motivating individual with strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
Familiarity with electronics packaging, tolerance stack analysis,
injection molding, in mold labeling (IML), in mold decorating (IMD),
VM, NCVM, painting and other plastic decoration technologies.
Familiarity with die casting process, plating and designing parts for those processes.
Understanding of secondary decoration processes such as pad printing, hot stamping etc
